Exploration of Intention Inference and Social Situation Awareness in Patients with Acquired Brain Injury

Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of the study is to establish a evidence for intervention in occupational therapy byexploring the intention inference and social situation awareness of patients wi t h acquired brain injury.

Method : 33 patients wi t h acquired brain injury wer e tested on the cartoon intention inference task and thesocial behavior sequence task, and differences according to general characteristics such as education level,disease duration, and acquired brain injury diagnosis category were verified.

Results : In the cartoon intention inference task, no differences wer e found for each variable. In the socialbehavior sequence task, there wer e differences in the duration of acquired brain injury and among thediagnostic categories. The traumatic ICH and the traumatic contusion groups were showed mor e high scorethan the cerebral infarction and subdural hemorrhage groups in the social behavior sequence task.

Conclusions : Wh e n applying training based on social interaction skills and social cognitive functions, it isnecessary to devise appropriate training programs for each stage according to the category and prevalenceperiod of acquired brain injury.
